The information below details the summary of changes to the Police Health Plan policy, effective 01 July 2024

1. The following benefits, as agreed, have been amended in the Policy:

  1. Changed the limit on ‘Daily Bed Fee’ from $975 up to $1,050
  2. Changed the limit on ‘Cardiac/Diagnostic Procedures’ from:
    • Healthcare Basic plan: $800 up to $1,200
    • Healthcare Plus plan: $1,000 up to $1,500
  3. Simplified 'Public Hospital Cash Benefit' from $20/adult and $10/child to $20 per night (up to a maximum of 15 nights)

POLICY CHANGES WE COULD NOT MAKE:

Radiation therapy

We were not able to include radiation or greater chemotherapy cover without further significant premium impact. We are aware there is a growing demand for these treatments to be covered by PHP. The additional increase in premiums necessary to make this cover viable would have been unaffordable for many policyholders.

If cover for these treatments is important to you, consider whether a lump-sum cash payment for specified diagnoses (such as those offered under our Critical Illness policy) would meet your needs. You can find an application form and policy information here.

Pregnancy and childbirth

Some cover for pregnancy and the consequences of childbirth was also considered. Again, the cost of including this cover would have made premium increases unaffordable for many policyholders so we have been unable to include it this year. We will consider this again in coming years.
