Wellington shared the honours at the 2025 NZ Police Cricket Championships in Tauranga.

The weather almost won out at the 2025 NZ Police Cricket National Championships in Tauranga.

Weather god Tāwhirimātea had the final say at February’s 2025 NZ Police Cricket National Championships.

The much-anticipated final between Wellington and Bay of Plenty on February 28 was washed out, resulting in the two teams being named joint winners.

Several players managed to notch up impressive figures on the previous three days, playing in sweltering Tauranga sunshine at the Ferguson Park ovals or Waipuna Park.

Gurwinder Nagla (Bay of Plenty) was the only centurion, with a knock of 116 not out helping him to amass more than 300 runs for the tournament. Mark Reid (Manawatū) and Ryan Foord (Northland) also stacked on some runs, each scoring two half centuries on the same day.

Meanwhile, NZ Police Cricket women’s representative Kelly Habraken (BOP) and Shaun Galbraith (Auckland) had a great tournament with the ball.

Kelly put in an outstanding bowling performance against Whakatāne on day two, taking five wickets for only 19 runs while Shaun snared a five-wicket bag for only 31 runs on the same day against Northland, securing a vital win to keep his team alive in the tournament.
