Salary: $110,000-$135,000
We are looking for a member focussed employment advisor to cover Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Hawkes’ Bay. Ideally, this will be Palmerston North based, but we are open to considering workable alternatives.
About us
The NZ Police Association provides a range of services to police staff (both currently serving and retired) and their families. We have a team of more than 60 people in various roles dedicated to providing exceptional service to our members. We have 8 staff throughout New Zealand providing timely and effective support and advice to members.
About the role
You will ideally be based in Palmerston North – though there may be some flexibility around this. The role will support members in the Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui and Hawkes’ Bay regions. It also requires regular travel to Wellington. The majority of time in these roles involves providing industrial advice and employment representation to Police Association members, including all employment relations issues and disciplinary matters.
You will also be promoting and delivering the services of the Police Welfare Fund and the Police Credit Union to members.
This is both a challenging and rewarding role, providing regular interaction with members and police management. Specialist support to the role is provided by the Association’s National Office team.
About you
Following a retirement, we are looking for someone to join the team on a permanent full-time basis. This role might be for you:
If you are:
- Professional, caring and dedicated to your work
- Familiar with New Zealand employment rights, agreements and principles
- Experienced and confident in disciplinary processes, performance management and other employment issues
- Acquainted with the resolution of grievances and employment relationship problems
And you have:
- A solid understanding of Police and the environment they work in
- Proven problem-solving, negotiating, advocacy and facilitating skills
- Advanced inter-personal and relationship building skills
- Self-motivation/management, initiative and good organisational skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Office products.
- A solid understanding and empathy with Police and the environment in which they work is desirable.
The successful applicant is required to maintain an office at their home and applicant would need to live within the vicinity of Palmerston North. An office allowance and vehicle will be provided.
