Gregory (Greg) O'Connor

Greg O’Connor was the longest-serving President in the Association's history. Seconded from Police as a senior sergeant in 1995, he stood down from the role in 2016.

During his 21 years as President, he built a strong profile as the “face” of the Association and was an informed voice on policing issues. He lobbied for the rights and entitlements of police officers both here and, as chairman of ICPRA (International Council of Police Representative Associations), overseas.

He raised the profile of the Association with members and highlighted the need for action on many significant law enforcement issues, ranging from the rise of methamphetamine to illegal firearms, and the need for increased police numbers.

Greg was awarded Life Membership in 2017.
