Anthony (Tony) Olsen - 1990

Tony joined Police in 1957.  With 33 years of service, Tony rose to the rank of Sergeant in Charge at Cambridge.

Tony spent much of his early policing career in Wellington, as well as taking on an instructor's role at the RNZPC in Porirua, holding this position for around 10 years.  Tony was remembered for his hands-on mentoring style, especially in terms of mentoring young Maori police officers (he was Maori himself).

Tony was an Association Activist for many years. He was instrumental in supporting under-cover police officers to reintegrate back into normal policing and did a great deal of work in this area, making sure they got the recognition they deserved.

Tony was awarded Life Membership in 1990.
